RegCure Is Our Choice As The Best Overall Registry Cleaner For 2007-2008 |
Registry Cleaner Comparison RegCure vs. Registry Mechanic
If you're looking for a good registry cleaner comparison then you've come to the right page. Based on all our independent testing, we have found that the two best registry cleaners are RegCure and Registry Mechanic. However, which one is really the best and which one do we recommend?
RegCure is published by ParetoLogic software ( main site | download ). It's a dedicated registry repair utility. ParetoLogic produces other computer maintenance software such as antivirus and antispyware software.
Registry Mechanic is published by PC Tools and is one of the leading registry repair utilities available. PC Tools also has other titles related to computer maintenance.
Our Criteria Registry Cleaner Comparison
We didn't go into this comparison looking for anything specific. Rather we just wanted to run the two different software programs and let them speak for themselves. Usually with software there is a clear winner.
Both programs are only available by downloading them from the internet. This should not be a problem however, since the file sizes of each installation package are small.
Installation was very plain and simple for both programs.
Scanning Registry Cleaner Comparison
Both programs had different scan results. We found RegCure's scan to be a bit more detailed and thorough even though it took a bit longer. RegCure found 337 problems on one of our test computers while Registry Mechanic only found 158 errors.
One thing that really made an impact was the fact that RegCure seemed to be a bit more focused. Registry Mechanic had a few extra features but these were features that are already available in Windows anyway. We found RegCure to have a lighter memory footprint so it was easier to run in the background during other tasks.
Program Features Registry Cleaner Comparisons
One thing we did take into account in this registry cleaner comparison are the extra features that each program provides. Both are very similar.
Registry Mechanic does come out on top in this area, but the extra features it provides really don't do much. The systems monitor and other utilities are available in Windows simply by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete.
Both programs had the important feature of being able to backup and restore any changes made.
Our Conclusions Registry Cleaner Comparison
Our recommendation lies with RegCure, especially since it found many more registry errors than Registry Mechanic. If you want a tool that will thoroughly clean the registry of all invalid files and folders then I suggest checking out RegCure. It's available as a direct download and you can scan your computer for free to try it out.
